iRest Yoga Nidra has been developed over the past twenty-six years by Richard Miller, PhD, a clinical psychologist, author, researcher and yogic scholar, and is uniquely suitable for a Western audience. Extensive research has shown that iRest effectively supports the healing process across a broad range of populations. Currently, there are iRest programs in military hospitals across the U.S., as well as in correctional facilities, hospices, clinics, schools, and organizations supporting personal growth and well-being. In June of 2010, iRest was endorsed by the US Army Surgeon General and Defense Centers of Excellence as a complementary and alternative medicine (CAM).

How It Works

iRest is integrative, in that it heals the various unresolved issues, traumas, and wounds that are present in the body and mind. It is restorative in that it aids its practitioners in recognizing their underlying peace of mind that is always present amidst all changing circumstances of life.

People using iRest report:

Decreased stress, anxiety, fear and depression
Decreased insomnia and sleep disturbances
Decreased perception of chronic and acute pain
Improved interpersonal relations
Increased energy levels
Increased sense of control in their lives
More confidence and joy in their lives
Greater sense of peace and well-being

iRest programs are typically taught as a guided meditation. Students can expect to lie down or sit comfortably during the practice.

Each one of us is perfect the way we are but many of us don’t realize it. Yoga cultivates the proficiency through which we gather the radiance and energy within us to remove the veil that prevents us from living our perfection. This transformation is at your fingertips – we carry all that we need within us. The physical practice of yoga is the way in – through simple postures and movement, breathing practice and inward focus – we cultivate the environment for transformation.

In this six-week series, we will take a deep-dive into the ‘why’ behind how yoga helps us gather and direct the radiance within and use it for transformation. This series is for any level of practitioner from beginner to advanced. Each class in the series will consist of a 15-30 minute lecture/discussion followed by a multi-level practice that will include physical movement, breathing practices and short meditation.

This series is for YOU if:
– you are ready to transform and let the perfect YOU be present everyday
– you want a ‘deeper-dive’ into the 360 degrees of yoga but are not ready or interested in yoga teacher training
– you are an instructor looking to revisit the foundations of yoga and to enhance your teaching

*$125 per person for the 6-week series, including all materials (hand-outs, exercises and an active private facebook group)

Are you looking for the right opportunity to bring yoga into your life?  Do you keep making up excuses for why you haven’t taken the first step?  No more excuses.  Loretta Zedella is leading a 4-week series for those who wish to bring the life enhancing practice of yoga into their lives.
A true introduction to yoga for those who have never done yoga before (or for whom it is a distant memory). This 4-week series includes fundamentals of breath awareness, proper and safe alignment in beginner yoga poses, and guidance through deep relaxation. Students learn proper technique for moving between poses as well as modifications to make all poses accessible, comfortable and safe. This is a unique opportunity to learn the basic principles of yoga and build a foundation for your own yoga practice that will serve you for a lifetime. It is also an excellent opportunity for more experienced yogis to return to the basics.

To take this class, you must be able to get down to and up from the floor…it doesn’t have to be pretty and there are no other expectations, except a desire to learn. Don’t be afraid to try!
