A true introduction to yoga, for those who have never done yoga before (or for whom it is a distant memory). This 4-week series includes fundamentals of breath awareness, proper and safe alignment in beginner yoga poses and guidance through deep relaxation. Students learn proper technique for moving between poses as well as modifications to make all poses accessible, comfortable and safe. This is a unique opportunity to learn the basic principles of yoga and build a foundation for your own yoga practice that will serve you for a lifetime. It is also an excellent opportunity for more experienced yogis to return to the basics.
To take this class, you must be able to get down to and up from the floor. It doesn’t have to be pretty, and there are no other expectations except a desire to learn. Don’t be afraid to try!
Please note: this class is a 4-week series offered several times throughout the year.
Yin Yoga & Yoga Nidra
This 60-minute class will help move you deeper into your body, focusing on your connective tissues. Each supported pose will be held for 3-5 minutes, working along the meridians to purify your body, while helping to increase flexibility to joints and ligaments. The class will end with Yoga Nidra, known as the yogic sleep. Yoga Nidra is a meditation and conscious relaxation practice that is intended to induce total physical, mental and emotional relaxation.
Rebalance your body and nervous system with mindful movement, breathing exercises, relaxation and therapy balls for the hands & feet plus techniques to release the low back and neck.
Barre & Booty
A 60-minute ballet-inspired workout that meets at the intersection of ballerina and gangsta. We use the barre to focus on glutes, quads, hamstrings and calves. Choreography is taught and practiced to elevate the heart rate. We use hand weights to tone biceps, shoulders and triceps and then there's plenty of time on the mat to burn those glutes and build that core strength. We end with a stretch and applause.
Driven by music, this yoga class integrates hand weights to an intense vinyasa flow. You will build lean muscle while challenging yourself mentally and physically. Arrive ready to move and leave feeling empowered!
Reset is for anyone who wants to start their week with a clean-body-and-mind slate. This class will use accessible asana and pranayama to take the flow of the body deeper into the flow of the body's energy. Every week we will reset specific flows of energy, aligned with specific organs, for a jumpstart to a new experience in yourself—one that you will be able to take with you off the mat. This class is ideal for stress relief, detoxification and strengthening the mind/body connection.
Power Hour is a more athletic, vigorous approach to Vinyasa yoga. You will explore dynamic movements, both physically and spiritually energizing as you flow from pose to pose. This class will help sculpt and tone every muscle in your body. Includes various elements of many different yoga styles. Sequencing will vary class to class. Open to all levels.
Our slow flow alignment-based class explores the balance of both effort and ease. This style is designed to engage and strengthen not only the major muscle groups, but the internal energetics of the body. You will learn numerous breathing exercises (pranayama) to deepen the breath and discover how the breath anchors you in body and in poses. You will be taken through each pose slowly and mindfully with thoughtful sequences and longer holds designed to engage and experience the purpose of each pose. In this slower yet challenging practice, within the boundaries and framework of personal individual expression, "every body" is represented. You will learn to honor and work with your individuality, experiencing for yourself the union of mind and body and strength. This class is suitable for beginners with little or no yoga experience—however, the more experienced practitioner will also be challenged, as sometimes less is more!
